Colliery

Shyamal is a mining engineer of a coal mine. While other colliers follow a shfting schedule to perform their duty Shyamal is to toil all the day and night both.

One day in the month of July it was raining cats and dogs. When morning shift was going on in full swing equally in basement floor, first floor, second floor true to speak on every layer one senior superviseral foteman came to Shyamal and informed that underground water is oozing inside colliery through some leakage of the wall of the mines. Without any delay Shyamal examined the afflicted spot and decided to take proper action in right time but he got trapped in such a heavy working pressure that he couldn’t find time to do it. But Shyamal was suffering from a conscience biting in his subconscious mind.

After four days when Shyamal came back home to have a dinner and to take rest at night he could listen his doorbell to be rung. At once he ran towards the main door and opened it just to see that superviseral foreman standing there with a meaningful smile and a gun in his right hand aiming at Shyamal. When Shyamal got stunned at this sight the foreman shot six bullets serially on Shyamal’s chest. Shyamal shouted in fear and got awakened only to see that he had been dreaming so long.

Next morning when Shyamal had joined duty he visualised that everything was going on as usual. Shyamal too got involved in his huge burden of work. That night Shyamal got awakened with a doorbell’s ring and at once he opened the door when that foreman previously said informed Shyamal of a deadly accident in colliery in which thirty colliers had died of being drowned in waterlogged basement floor due to the wall leakage. Shyamal told him that he would be reaching there at once. The foreman left the place.

When Shyamal reached the spot he found that thirty dead bodies were brought out of the colliery and laid down on the floor side by side. But at which incident Shyamal got astonished that was the fact, the foreman was among the thirty dead victims.
