Atul has got transferred to a remote town which is far from his own village. Hence the thirty years old young man took a small cottage there on rent as temporary residence.
Currently an afternoon duty set from 2pm. to 10pm has been scheduled to him. So it has become a daily routine that the young man returns home around half past ten or so.
While returning home Atul does have to cross a level crossing. After crossing it there’s a small platform like a Calvert.
That night Atul found a six or seven years old boy sitting on that Calvert. Naturally Atul went towards the boy and asked him,”Who are you, my cute child? Why’re you sitting alone in such a solitary place till late night?” The child replied,”I’m Toton, I’m waiting for my father who’ll escort and take me from here.” Atul again asked,”Where do you stay?” The child mentioned the same locality where is Atul’s residence. Atul wants to reach the boy home but the boy objected it. Then Atul left the place.
Next night Atul saw Toton in the same spot sitting in same style. Atul naturally again asked the boy,” tonight too are you sitting here! Last night when did you return home?” Toton answered,”I’m yet to meet with my parents.” Atul asked no more questions and left the place.
Next day around half past nine in the morning when Atul was shaving he found a pretty large crowd at little far. He asked to his land lord …” Why have the people thronged there?” The landlord informed that Anath babu’s son Toton was missing for three days. Now police have found a child’s body some where.So they have come to call Anathbabu to identify the body.”
After half an hour when Atul was on his way to market he saw Toton’s dead body lying on rail line side and Anath babu was admitting that the boy was his missing son. Someone in the crowd told that “Toton has been killed out of some revengefulness.”
