Somnath is a twenty seven years old young man. After qualifying tet exam Somnath got a job of teaching in a government school but has been posted in a remote town named Angurdaha. Somenath somehow managed to take an old building like fortress on rent only to reside there.
Anyway he used only one room, kitchen and bathroom. Rest of the rooms remained locked. But Somnath sometimes used to get up to to the second floor terrace just to enjoy fresh air.
Somnath kept a working attendant also to help him.
As per routine Somnath used to leave for his school at 10.30am and used to come back around half past five in the afternoon. Somnath used to commute daily on his bicycle. While taking out his bicycle Somnath used to look at the building to take a view of overall building from top to bottom. Somnath almost got accustomed to this as his regular habit.
It was a Monday… When Somnath was leaving for school habitually he looked upward to take a view of the building. Then he could see an exquisite lady standing by the railing of the terrace and watching Somnath. Somnath got confused to see the lady… Who’s the lady? How could she reach to the terrace in such a well protected house?
At once he got inside and called his assistant to conduct a survey of the terrace but there they found none. Naturally both of them got back.
Next day same incident occurred. Again Somnath searched every nook and corner of the roof but found no one there.
Hence forth, Somnath didn’t find anyone on the terrace from the ground floor.
It was Friday evening, Somnath was checking all home work copies of his students after having got tired he ascended to that second floor terrace only to breathe fresh air. He went towards the railing of the terrace and stood there for few minutes. But when he took a turn back he faced that lady. Somnath was so agitated that he shouted at her,”Who are you, mam? Why are you after me? Why are you following me in such a solitary place? ” Now the lady started telling with a sob, I love you, my Lord. Before two hundred years you were a Greek warrier and you came to invade India when my husband band was a sultan here. Both of you got involved in a violent war. You used to stay at this fortress and I used to stay in my husband’s palace along with him but I fell in your love. I used to watch you from far but I never dared to approach you because I was married and a mother of my husband’s daughter. I could never disclose my love to any body. Hence forth I have been suffering that estrangement from you. The then all people died and got emancipation but I have been waiting for your arrival at here for I could anticipate that you must come to me.”
Somnath pulled the woman near, watched her face thoroughly and then hugged her.
From next day Somnath was found no where.
